General Dentistry Services
A healthy smile is a cornerstone to a high quality of life. The Belfair Dental Care team is committed to maintaining the longevity of your smile by providing the treatments that are best for YOU and your long-term health and wellness.
Bi-annual dental examinations are essential to your overall health. Utilizing state-of-the-art dental x-rays, we’ll identify areas of tooth decay, gum disease, and other problems that threaten the health and integrity of your smile. During an examination, our dentists will also check for signs of oral cancer.
Bi-annual dental cleanings not only go a long way for your smile and confidence ‒ they’re key to maintaining total health and wellness. Not everyone enjoys having their teeth cleaned, but our hygienists are committed to making the process as easy and comfortable for our patients as possible. Our dentists communicate closely with patients during dental cleanings and update them on the status of their oral health. We’ll discuss any further dental treatments if necessary.
Early stage gum disease, otherwise known as gingivitis, can quickly progress into periodontitis, a serious form of gum disease that can cause tooth loss and other complications. Our dentists perform root planning and scaling for patients who are struggling with periodontitis.
The signs of gingivitis and periodontitis include:
- Swollen, red, or tender gums
- Gums that bleed easily
- Gum recession
- Bad breath
If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, please contact us today.
Root Canal Therapy
Damage or infection to the root and nerve of a tooth, known as the pulp, can cause pain, throbbing, tooth sensitivity, or worsening decay and infection. Root canal therapy removes the infection from this inner layer, as well as the surrounding areas. Once the infection is removed, our dentists clean and disinfect the area to remove excess bacteria.
The affected tooth can lose some or all of its structure following an injury or infection. In most cases, we’ll apply a dental crown to further protect the tooth. Our dentists are also happy to discuss other options for a replacement tooth with you.
A severely and extensively damaged or infected tooth may require extraction. Before a tooth extraction, our dentists carefully review the patient’s medical history and help them navigate their tooth replacement options. These may include a socket preservation bone graft, a dental implant, a fixed partial bridge, or a removable partial denture. Throughout a tooth extraction, our team works diligently to minimize pain and discomfort and keep patients at ease.
